Arthur H. DeLaRoche 92, of Camden, NY. Known as ‘Grandpa’ to many, passed away on June 11, 2022 at Betsy Ross Nursing Facility, Rome, NY where he had been a resident for the past 3 ½ years. He was born in Camden, NY on August 29, 1929 a son of Herman & Edith Walker DeLaRoche and was a lifelong resident of Camden. On September 21, 1957 he married the former Christine Cass. She passed away July 23, 2009. Art worked for Harden Farms, Harden Furniture and Camden Upholstery before he found his true calling. It was working as a senior companion with the CNYDSO. He loved taking individuals out for walks through the village and Forest Park five days a week, for over 25 years. Art loved being outdoors, rain or shine, hot or cold. He walked and talked to Jesus morning and evening. Art loved his Lord and Savior first and foremost, his family and many friends were so important to his long life. There were many special people in his life especially his granddaughter, LeAnn, his loving sisters Bert and Mary and a special friend, Grace Wallace that always put a song in his heart. The family would like to thank the staff at Betsy Ross, especially the special needs/memory care unit over the last few days. Surviving are two daughters, Karen & Scott Kern, Lee Center, NY, Julie Van Dresar & Tony Pugh, Rome, NY, two sons, Douglas & Kim DeLaRoche, Granby, CT and Daniel & Michele DeLaRoche, Palestine, TX, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary LaFave and Bertha Clarke, Camden, NY and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents and angel wife Christine, he was predeceased by three sisters, Elsie Grinell, Mildred Chamberlain and Edna Graham, four brothers, John, Herman, George and Ernest DeLaRoche. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Thursday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Interment Hillside Cemetery (Hillsboro). Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 – 7pm at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Friends of Forest Park, 56 Harden Blvd. Camden, NY.
