Audrey Sherman, 92, formerly of Blossvale, NY passed away at the Grossmont Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit in La Mesa, California on December 18, 2021 after a brief illness. Audrey had lived in California since 2020. She was born in Rome, NY on December 24, 1928 to Elmer T. and Marion E. Kilbourne. Audrey was a 1946 graduate of Camden High School and Becker Junior College, Worchester, MA. On May 11, 1949 she married Thomas E. Sherman in her parents’ home in Taberg, NY. Mr. Sherman passed away in March, 2002. Audrey worked for Maxwell Ford then Davidson Chevrolet in Rome, NY before becoming the Secretary to the Principal and Assistant Principal at Camden Middle School for 23 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving are a daughter, Shelley and Richard Burns in La Mesa, CA, two grandsons, Jeremey and Brandy Burns in Binghamton, NY and Ryan and Whitney Burns of San Diego, CA. Audrey is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Madison, Ivy, Rowan, Kenna and Erik and several nieces and nephews. Beside her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by a daughter Laurie Lynne in 1954, sisters Joyce K. Winters, Helen R. Pechin, Sandra C. Dunfield and brother Hal M. Kilbourne. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery in Taberg, NY. There are no calling hours or services.
