Obituary for Deanna "Welfel" Lane

Deanna M. Lane, 83 passed away on Friday February 4, 2022. She was born April 14, 1938 in Rome, NY a daughter of Henry & Esther Loucks Welfel and was educated in Rome Schools. Deanna was previously married to Alan Yager and Carlton Lane. In 1995, Deanna achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She worked as an LPN for 10 years, first at the Oneida Extended Care and later with the CNY DDSO, Camden, NY. . Deanna was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Camden, NY. Deanna’s famous carrot cake was always in great demand for birthdays and holidays. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew her. Her family was everything to her. She is survived by four children: Dr. Kathleen & John Miller, Oneida, NY, Karleen Yager, Camden, NY, Paul & Sandra Yager, Greenfield. MA., James Lane & Katherine Shepard, Clinton, NY. Deanna was affectionately known as “Mom Lane” by many of her children’s friends. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Ryan Peck, Tricia Peck, Dustin Yager & Brittany Ankiewicz and Kyle & Ashleigh Yager. The pride and joy of Deanna’s life was her great grandson, Arlo Yager. She loved being his “Gigi”. She is also survived by her loving canine companion, Lily.     Services will be held 5:00pm Monday February 7, 2022 from the United Methodist Church, 132 Main Street, Camden, NY. Spring interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 3 -5 pm prior to services at the church. The family will also receive friends at the reception following services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Camden Area Food Pantry, 84 Main Street, Camden, NY and/or the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Road, Rome, NY in Deanna’s memory.
