Obituary for Jane Gualtieri ((Sauer))

Jane B. Gualtieri, 65, of Camden, NY passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family at her side on Saturday July 30, 2022, after a courageous three-and-a-half year battle with cancer.

She was born July 27, 1957 in Rome, NY, a daughter of Eugene & Betty Peek Sauer, and was a 1975 graduate of Camden High School. Jane worked as a nurse for the CNYDDSO in Rome, NY while obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Institute of Technology. She worked for the CNYDDSO for more than 35 years, lastly performing administrative duties. On November 29, 1992, she married David R. Gualtieri in Rome, NY. When she was younger, Jane was an avid jogger. She later enjoyed walking, boating, watching cooking shows and sharing recipes with her daughters, and spoiling her dogs. What she cherished most, however, was her family and friends and time spent with them. She was so grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to meet her two beloved grandsons.

She is survived by her husband, David R. Gualtieri, two daughters, Morgan & Paul Maitland, Westernville, NY, Ashley & James Montieth, Redfield, NY, two sons, Matthew Sauer & Kelly Wilson, Rochester, NY, Mark Sauer, Amsterdam, NY, two grandchildren, Cole Montieth and Joseph Maitland, a brother, James & Lana Sauer, Rome, NY, several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and sisters-in-law. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Eugene, Michael and Brian Sauer, her in-laws, Jean & Pat ‘Red’ Gualtieri, a brother-in law, Ronald Gualtieri, a niece, Lisa Sauer, and a nephew, Jimmy Sauer. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Upstate Cancer Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and to all those that showed their care and support during Jane’s illness.

Graveside services will be held 11:00am Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden, NY. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Florence Volunteer Fire Dept., and/or Camden Ambulance.
