Obituary for Karen "Ammann" Renwick

Karen M. (Ammann) Renwick 54, of Camden, NY passed away Saturday December 4, 2021 at Oneida Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 20, 1967 in Rome, NY the daughter of Walter C. and Thelma E. Flagg Ammann. Growing up as the only girl with five brothers, Karen was a daddy’s girl. She has always had a snarky sense of humor. She also had an aversion to wearing dresses at a young age. She never wore a dress again, other than her wedding day. Karen was a 1985 graduate of Camden Senior High School. She married the love of her life, Joseph L. Renwick on October 29, 1988 at the Hillsboro Church, Camden, NY. They had recently celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary together. Karen and Joe were blessed with a son, Andrew, the following year. He was the light of their lives. She was the most loving mother and wife that she could be. She and Andrew spent a lot of time gardening at the farm, going on walks, swimming, watching Syracuse basketball and the NY Yankees baseball games and cheering on Chase Elliot while watching NASCAR races. They had even attended some races at the Dover International Speedway, visited the NASCAR Hall of Fame and went to Yankee Stadium. Andrew passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2018. Karen spent many years fundraising for the Relay for Life with her family, in hopes to help find a cure for pancreatic cancer in memory of her father. She loved to bake; making the best fudge, chocolate chip cookies and homemade candies around! She also made the best DIY Halloween costumes.  Karen graduated as a Registered Nurse in 2010 from MVCC. She spent the rest of her life spreading her love and compassion for others, through her work. It truly does take a special heart to be a nurse and she really had a heart of gold. She had worked at Rome Memorial Hospital, Taberg Residential Center and currently the Central New York Psychiatric Center. Anyone lucky enough to have known Karen, knew that she was an angel and a treasured soul.  Surviving are her loving husband, Joseph, three brothers; Michael & Susan Ammann of Mt Airy, NC., Mark & Katherine Ammann of Oneida and Matthew Ammann of Marcellus, a sister in law, Diane Ammann of Camden. She always treated her nieces and nephews like they were her own children; Diana & Dillon, Megan & John, Sarah, Scott, Michael Scott, MacKenzie, Katie and Zach, as well as four great nephews; Aiden, Johannes, Elijah and Gabriel and one great niece, Isabella. She was predeceased by her mother and father, two brothers; Scott A. Ammann and Walter C. ‘Chuck’ Ammann Jr, and her beloved son, Andrew J. Renwick. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Thursday December 9, 2021 from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
