Obituary for Leola "Honey" Serway

Leola ‘Honey’ R. Serway 84, of Camden, NY passed away June 12, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica, NY. She was born on September 24, 1937, in Rome, NY daughter of Sanford ‘Sonny’ & Laura Britschge Snyder.  She was a 1955 graduate of Camden High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed painting, crafting and was an antique fanatic for many years. She used her entrepreneurial skills and Florida Real Estate License in buying and selling various properties in the Jensen Beach area.  In addition to all of this, she was an avid lover of animals and rescued many in her lifetime.  Leola was previously married to Donald Helton who resides in Virginia and then married to John Serway, who died March 31, 2012. Leola lived in Jensen Beach, FL since 1980, returning to Camden in 2017. Her family would like to thank her care givers that helped her throughout the last few years to allow her to remain in her home. A special shout out to Mark Snow for all his help, Veronica June, Mike Mickalenko, Hannah and many others that made Leola’s world a better place for her; God Bless you all!  Her surviving children are her daughter, Laura Serway, Syracuse, NY and her son, S. Kirk Serway, Cleveland, NY.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Sam Serway, Taberg NY, Matthew Serway, Whitesboro, NY and Heather Serway Smith, Yulee, Florida.   Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Charles Serway, May 25, 2016, and her brother, Edwin Snyder February 20, 2019.  There will be a celebration of life on June 26, 2022, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Route 13, Vienna, NY, at 3:00pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Unbroken Ties Fund for Access-CNY.  Follow this link in lieu of flowers.
