Obituary for Marilyn "Rost" Sidoran

Marilyn Clara Rost Sidoran, 86, of Camden died on June 14, 2022, at Rome Memorial Hospital. Born October 15, 1935, in Greece, NY, she was the daughter of Ernest and Albina (Tomeck) Rost. Marilyn was raised in Rochester and then Schenectady, NY before attending St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY where she earned her bachelor’s degree in government. Marilyn worked in the Camden School District as a substitute teacher and later earned her Master’s degree in Special Education, and worked toward improving literacy. Marilyn was an avid gardener and a member of the Camden Garden Club. She also loved early American architecture and enjoyed Christmas parties with historical club. She felt best helping others and assisted with Wounded Warrior events and Cluster 13 efforts. She received a letter of special recognition from the Brigadier General, U.S. Army, thanking her for her efforts in providing holiday celebrations for the Fort Drum Soldiers in Transition. Marilyn was a member of Trinity Episcopal church for nearly 60 years and served on the Vestry for much of that time. She traveled all over the US and Mexico with her husband John, who she referred to as her hero. Marilyn also saw much of Europe with friends and family. One of her greatest joys was looking out on the Atlantic Ocean and eating coffee ice cream! It should be noted that Marilyn was very grateful for all of the loving care provided to her by her stepdaughter Vicky. Marilyn cherished and made life special for her entire family. Marilyn is predeceased by her son Scott and is survived by her husband John Sidoran, three children: Bruce, Curtis and Jennifer, and three step children: James, Vicky and Gary, as well as seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Ford. A Requiem Eucharist Funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00am from Trinity Episcopal Church under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY with calling hours to be held Tuesday from 4 – 6pm at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Cluster 13, 84 Main St. Camden, NY 13316.
