Obituary for MaryLou "Dolan" Carpenter

MaryLou Carpenter, 58, of Camden, NY passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. As a four-time cancer survivor, MaryLou showed immense courage and strength that inspired all. She was born in Rome, NY on August 28, 1963 a daughter of Charles & Patricia Pietruch Dolan. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. MaryLou then attended SUNY Geneseo receiving her degree in teaching. She earned her Master’s degree from The College of St. Rose in Albany, NY. On August 17, 1991 she married Loren E. Carpenter III at St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center, NY. They shared a blessed union that would last 30 years. MaryLou retired in 2019 after over 30 years of Special Education Teaching at Camden Middle School, where she also served as the Department Chair. She was a very dedicated, kind, and giving educator. MaryLou received the Seed of Selflessness Award from the Camden Central School District. Her immense commitment to her students and community was unparalleled and will never be forgotten. Outside of school, she was a coach for the Special Olympics Area 28 and also participated in the Camden Relay for Life, heading her team ‘Sisters of Hope’. Following retirement, MaryLou and her sister created ‘Love it Again Furniture Makeovers’, a small business formed from her love of restoring and refinishing furniture. She devoted her life to her family who will remember her loving heart, selflessness, kindness, and her benevolent view on life itself. Surviving are her husband, Loren, their son, Emerson L. Carpenter, Fort Worth, TX, their daughter, Abigayle V. Carpenter, Binghamton, NY, her parents, Charles & Patricia Dolan, Lee Center, NY, her beloved dog, Willow, three sisters, Catherine Dolan, Rome, NY, Kelley Dolan, Lee Center, NY, AnnMarie Dolan, Rome, NY, her brother, Timothy Dolan, Gaffney, SC, her in-laws, Loren & Donna Carpenter, Sylvan Beach, NY, three sisters in-law, Carol & Jim Livingston, Oswego, NY, Lisa & Fred Huante, Camden, NY and Lori & Dan Zorn, Camden, NY along with several nieces & nephews. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center, NY. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes, NY.
