Obituary for Percy Skinner

Percy E. “Skip” Skinner 75, of Camden, NY, passed away at St. Joseph’s Heath Center in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, November 20, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1946, in Rome, NY, the son of Percy and Mary Fox Skinner. Skip graduated from Camden High School. On September 30, 1965, Skip proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country during the Vietnam War on the USS Intrepid until his honorable discharge on September 26, 1969.He was a member of the Arthur S. Moran Post 66 American Legion and a past Commander of the Lt. Victor Giles VFW Post #6530. He was also a lifelong member of the NRA. Skip was employed as an equipment operator for the Oneida County Department of Public Works for many years until his retirement. He loved to tinker in the garage, or as he called it, “the condo”. Most days he could be found in his “condo” working on any number of projects. Skip had a vast and unquenchable knowledge of firearms and history and would spend hours reading and learning these subjects. He also enjoyed his time outdoors, hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Beverly; a daughter; Inge (Christopher) Skinner-Budlong, and grandson Erik Budlong of Lee; his aunt, Alice Russell, of Taberg; two sisters in law, Patricia Card, of Horseheads and Olivia Cotterell, of Canandaigua; along with many cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends.  Family and Friends are invited to a graveside service with Military Honors in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 12:00 noon Friday December 3,2021 under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Skip’s generosity, the family kindly asks you to please consider a memorial contribution in Skip’s memory by choosing a Veteran’s Association or Charity of your choice
